Learning Disabilities (LD)
We are able to offer a cognitive assessment to aid in the diagnosis of a learning disability, as well as to determine the areas of strength that your child displays, and areas they find more difficult. We are also able to offer assessment and support for any emotional or behavioural difficulties that your child may be displaying, through a functional analysis of their patterns of behaviour. We offer advice and consultation to schools to help in implementing recommendations to support your child, and therapeutic intervention to support the emotional needs of your child, if required.
Adapting to a diagnosis: has your child recently been diagnosed with a condition?
Understandably, this can be a very confusing and challenging time. Having worked in health services, we understand that there is a lack of support available after receiving a diagnosis. We are able to offer therapeutic support to parents (and children and families where required) in relation to having received a diagnosis, such as ASD, learning disability and ADHD. These sessions aim to provide you with space to explore and understand the diagnosis and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. You will also be able to talk about how you are thinking and feeling, as well as consider the future and what impact this might have on your family unit.
